It has been an abysmal month for posting to this blog. My apologies that this is going up so late! As I mentioned in my previous post, October was an incredibly busy month. That meant I kept my beauty routine to a minimum– which is rare for me! I found myself going back to old favorites instead of trying out new products. Which in a way, helped me to rediscover why I loved them so much in the first place!
The Smashbox BB cream was the first “foundation” I ever purchased. It is still one of my all time favorites. (I go back and forth on whether I like this one, or the It Cosmetics CC Cream best.) It has just the right amount of coverage, looks natural on my skin, and keeps my oil under control. What more could you ask for? I also like that it’s just a teeny bit moisturizing, which has been a life saver now that the weather is turning colder.
Speaking of colder weather, my skin has been so dry! This has been my go-to hand cream. I keep it in my purse at all times. Not only is it super moisturizing, but it smells amazing! I also like that it soaks into my skin relatively quickly, which means that I don’t have to deal with greasy hands.
As I mentioned, I’ve been keeping my beauty routine relatively minimal this month. Most days, I haven’t worn any makeup at all, but when I have, I’ve kept it pretty natural. You’ve heard people say, “Your lips but better,” when referring to lip color? This blush combination perfect for achieving the perfect “Your cheeks but better” look.
Dallas is a great dusty rose color that is incredibly flattering for a wide variety of skin tones. The color has the
weird amazing ability to provide definition and make it look like my face has actual cheekbones. Because of this, I usually wear it without feeling the need to contour. However, I’m a girl who needs to have some highlighter in my life. On days when I want a subtle glow, I also layer a little bit of Benefit’s Rockateur blush over the top. I can’t tell you how perfectly these two go together! This has definitely been my go-to blush look for the month.
Both colors are extremely subtle, as you can see in the swatches above. (Dallas is on the left, and Rockateur is on the right.)
An oldie but a goodie, the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure nail polish in Gold Roses tends to be the color I pick when I don’t know what else to wear. It’s pretty enough to be dressy while remaining subtle and professional.
As I’m writing this post, I’m realizing that a lot of my favorite products from this month fall into the “rose gold” category. Whoops! That definitely wasn’t on purpose!
Anyway, this eyeliner is like a full night’s sleep in pencil form. I love lining my lower waterline with it to make my eyes look bigger and more awake. I was initially nervous about the metallic finish, but found that it just enhances the natural sheen on that part of your eye. It’s not the most long lasting product, but I still find myself reaching for it on days when I’m looking a little tired.
Ever have those days where you don’t know what eye look you want to go for? Yeah, me too. Kind of like the Sally Hansen nail polish I mentioned before, this Nars eyeshadow duo is almost always what I reach for. Each shade is beautiful on it’s own, but when blended together, they create a gorgeous champagne color. It provides a beautiful sheen on your eyelids that’s polished but not overpowering.
That about wraps up my monthly favorites! Be on the look out for more posts this month! I have lots of ideas– it’s just a matter of finding the time to execute them. Also, I’m currently in the process of redesigning my photography website. I try to keep this blog separate from my photo work, but I’ll let you know when the site is live in case you want to check it out.
I hope you have a lovely November! Feel free to let me know what products you’ve been loving lately in the the comments!
