Moving is hard y’all. The big move was two weeks ago, but I’m still exhausted! So far, I’m really loving the new place, but it feels a little like living in a really disorganized hotel. Nothing feels familiar and pretty much all of our stuff is still in boxes.
It’s been a pretty plain-Jane month, beauty-wise. With all my stuff in boxes, I’ve gone for the “no makeup makeup” look most mornings. I’m going to be getting a new makeup vanity, and so I haven’t bothered to unpack the boxes with my beauty products inside. So when I say that these are the things I’ve been using all month—I mean it! I didn’t have much choice! Luckily, I’ve been really happy with many of the items I set aside for the move.
Ole Henriksen Red Tea Foaming Cleanser
I’ve been meaning to get serious about my skincare for a while now, and so right before the move I booked an appointment at Sephora. I worked with one of their reps to create a skincare routine. I plan on writing a full post (possibly two?) once I’ve gotten a better sense of how the products are working, but I’ve been really impressed with everything thus far.
The Ole Henriksen Red Tea Foaming Cleanser has ben the standout product of the bunch. I’ve been using it in the mornings and in the evenings to wash my face. I’ve never used a foam cleanser, but I’ve been really impressed by how it leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean, but without stripping it of its moisture. So far, this one’s a winner in my book.
Benefit Roller Lash Mascara
I’ve had this mascara since it first came out, and I wasn’t wowed by it. However, over time, I’ve grown to love it. While it doesn’t curl my lashes without the use of an eyelash curler (surprise, surprise), it does give amazing length and separation. The effect is perfect for everyday wear without being overly dramatic. Now, if only it were easier to remove…
The Balm Frat Boy Blush
Where has this blush been all my life? This is a gorgeous natural pink color that’s perfect for “no makeup makeup” days. It’s subtle enough to be paired with a smokey eye or bold lip, but polished enough to wear to the office. This is definitely going to stay in my rotation for a long time.
Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Orchid
If you read my post about my drugstore lip picks for spring, you’ll know that I’ve been obsessed with orchid colored lipsticks lately. It’s such a fun twist on a bright lip. This one from Revlon is definitely my favorite. The gel-based formula is highly pigmented and comfortable to wear.
Tarte LipSurgence Skintuitive Lip Gloss in Energy
I’ve dubbed this lip gloss my “lazy day lip color.” It’s one of those formulas that goes on clear, but changes color after it’s applied. It’s a really pretty, natural pink color that’s perfect for everyday. It’s been my go-to when I don’t know what I want to wear on my lips. It’s not too sticky, which means that it’s comfortable to wear, but it’s also not the longest lasting… Luckily, the yummy, smell makes up for it!
Camelback Groove Bottle
You know you’re getting old when you start to worry about hydration… Don’t get me wrong! Drinking enough water is incredibly important. I’ve just never really thought about it. I’ve always been terrible about drinking enough water. To combat that, I’ve started carrying my water bottle around with me. While it makes my purse quite a bit heavier, it’s a good way of reminding myself to drink water all day long. I like this water bottle because the straw has a built in filter, so I can fill it wherever I want. I haven’t noticed any earth shattering effects, I think it’s a healthy habit and so I’ll continue.
That’s about it! Now that things are starting to get back to normal around here, hopefully I’ll be able to begin posting more regularly again. I hope you all had a lovely April, and that your May is off to a great start. Thanks as always for reading!
