Travel Diary: Seattle

It has been a crazy couple of weeks! I recently went on a trip to Seattle with my friend, Anna, and it’s been a complete whirlwind since I returned. I’d planned to post this just a few days after my trip, but unfortunately I came down with a nasty case of the stomach flu! Luckily (?) Winter Storm Jonas shut down the east coast, and I’ve had the past few days to recover in the comfort of my own home. Now that I’m feeling better, I wanted to share some photos from our trip! (Side note: besides being one of my very best friends, Anna is one of the biggest supporters of this blog. Hi Anna!)

This was my first time booking a vacation “just because.” I’ve gone on family trips and school trips, but I’ve never gotten to just pick a destination, hop on a plane, and go. We had such a great time together, and I can’t wait to do it again!

2015 Year-In Review

2015

2015 was sort of a strange year for me. In some ways, it was probably one of the most defining years of my life thus far. There were certainly plenty of major life moments to make it memorable! But despite the good times —and there were plenty—it all ended feeling rather bittersweet.  As we head into 2016, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on this past year and share a few of my goals for the next.

And by the way—if you’re looking for my Best in Beauty 2015, despair not! I’m currently working on a draft, and it should be up in the next day or two! Better late than never, right? (I guess some things will never change…)

ColourPop Lippie Stix: Swatches and Review

DSC_2847_web

I hope you’re not sick of seeing photos of my lips (though, it’d be entirely justifiable after my recent post on MAC lipsticks) because I’m coming at you with some swatches and a review of ColourPop’s Lippie Stix. This brand has been gaining ground fast on the interwebs, and with good reason! Not only are their products incredibly affordable, but they’re brilliantly formulated and come in an amazing range of colors.

One of ColourPop’s most raved-about products are their Lippie Stix, highly-pigmented twist-up lip pencils in a variety of finishes. At just $5 a piece, I couldn’t resist the urge to pick up a handful to review for you. And if I didn’t have enough to rave about, all of ColourPop’s Lippie Stix come with coordinating lip liners (also $5). Not all are exact color matches, but they are intended to complement one another and be worn together. I’ve included swatches of the lip liners when I have them.

7 Products in 7 Minutes: Easy Drugstore Makeup for Everyday

BeforeAfter

Despite what my boyfriend might tell you, I am capable of finishing my makeup in under ten minutes. It might be a bit of a struggle, and it might not happen often, but it can be done. The trick, I’ve found, is to select reliable products that you know work for you.

Today I’m sharing a 7 minute makeup routine that’s great for those days when you need to look polished in a pinch. And best of all? All of the products come from the drugstore, so it’s super affordable!

The Ultimate Guide to MAC’s Pinky-Nude Lipsticks

DSC_2943_web

Confession: I am a lipstick hoarder. That probably doesn’t come as a surprise to many of you, but it’s true. I love lipstick. Maybe more than any other beauty product. You can change up your entire look with a single product. In my hoard collection, two colors dominate: reds, and pinky-nudes. This post includes a small selection of the latter.

Over the past year or so, I have amassed quite a few MAC lipsticks. Their shade range is incredible, and they have a number of formulas so you can select just the right color and finish. For those of you looking for something specific, I thought I’d do one giant swatch-post.

March Favorites | Better Late than Never?

DSC_9728

I apologize that this post is coming so late. I’ve had it written since the end of March, but couldn’t find the time to take photos. I debated even posting it, but given how hectic things are going to be these next few weeks, I wasn’t sure the next time I’d be able to write.

Before I dive in, I’d like to apologize in advance for posting infrequently over the next couple of weeks. As some of you probably know, Dave and I are about to move into our first place together, and I’ll be busy packing and unpacking. Hopefully I’ll have time to pre-schedule a couple of things before my life gets too crazy. If not, please bear with me during my absence.

March felt like the longest month ever. I haven’t done anything terribly exciting, but it feels like a year ago that I was with my family in Chicago… That being said, I’ve been playing with lots of products this month, and have several to share with you. I’ll try to keep my descriptions brief so this doesn’t get too long.
