Hi friends! Look who’s finally written their 2015 best of beauty post! It only took a bajillion years…
Asking me to pick my favorite makeup products is like asking me to pick a favorite child—it just can’t be done. I love all of them for different reasons. (Er…most of them, anyway.) That’s why, initially, I wasn’t going to write a 2015 favorites post. January is almost over, everyone else has done it, and I worried no one would want to read it. But then, one of my friends asked me to write it, and here I am. I’ve caved. Not all of these were 2015 discoveries, but I definitely used the heck out of all of them last year! I decided to save my skincare favorites for a future post—I’m long overdo for an updated skincare routine anyhow!
Without further ado, here’s my 2015 All Star Lineup!
Is it December already? The final months of the year just keep flying by… At any rate, I kicked off the beginning of November with a “Wine in the Woods” trip with some friends. We rented a treehouse in Western Maryland and drove around to a bunch of vineyards. It was so much fun, and I came away with plenty of great wine! Thanksgiving was spent with Dave and my family in Wisconsin. We definitely appreciated the time off from work! Now time to crack down on grad school applications…
In terms of favorites, November was a really fun month for beauty! I did a fair amount of experimenting and I enjoyed just about everything I tried. Here are a few of the standouts!
People keep saying that BB cushions are going to be “the next big thing.” I mean, it makes sense right? People love BB creams (though, they’ve become a bit over-hyped in the last few years) and what’s not to love about your favorite liquid foundation coming in a travel-friendly compact? So, when I found out that Target was going to start carrying Laneige, the much-loved Korean skincare brand, I was pumped. I’d heard so many great things about about their products, particularly their BB cushion, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.
I finally had the chance to pick one up from my local Target last week. After testing it in a variety of settings, here are my thoughts. And unfortunately, they ain’t pretty.
It has been an abysmal month for posting to this blog. My apologies that this is going up so late! As I mentioned in my previous post, October was an incredibly busy month. That meant I kept my beauty routine to a minimum– which is rare for me! I found myself going back to old favorites instead of trying out new products. Which in a way, helped me to rediscover why I loved them so much in the first place!
As glorious as it would be to own the entire NARS collection, that just isn’t feasible. At least, not on my budget. And in some cases, expensive makeup isn’t always better makeup. I’ve decided to create a list of my favorite stand-alone products from high end brands alongside their drugstore counterparts to see how they stand up.
In Part 1, I’ll compare some of my favorite face products:
