Best of Beauty 2015

Hi friends! Look who’s finally written their 2015 best of beauty post! It only took a bajillion years…

Asking me to pick my favorite makeup products is like asking me to pick a favorite child—it just can’t be done. I love all of them for different reasons. (Er…most of them, anyway.) That’s why, initially, I wasn’t going to write a 2015 favorites post. January is almost over, everyone else has done it, and I worried no one would want to read it. But then, one of my friends asked me to write it, and here I am. I’ve caved. Not all of these were 2015 discoveries, but I definitely used the heck out of all of them last year! I decided to save my skincare favorites for a future post—I’m long overdo for an updated skincare routine anyhow!

Without further ado, here’s my 2015 All Star Lineup!

November Favorites

Is it December already? The final months of the year just keep flying by… At any rate, I kicked off the beginning of November with a “Wine in the Woods” trip with some friends. We rented a treehouse in Western Maryland and drove around to a bunch of vineyards. It was so much fun, and I came away with plenty of great wine! Thanksgiving was spent with Dave and my family in Wisconsin. We definitely appreciated the time off from work! Now time to crack down on grad school applications…

In terms of favorites, November was a  really fun month for beauty! I did a fair amount of experimenting and I enjoyed just about everything I tried. Here are a few of the standouts!

Requesting Backup

Backup

We all have our favorite makeup products. Sometimes, that love fades after a few months. Occasionally, that love elevates a product to “holy grail” status. Even more rare, is the discovery of a product you love sooo much, that you begin to feel strong levels of anxiety at the thought of running out.

In order to prevent any unpleasantness, I always keep a backup of these products in my drawer. You might call them “Holy Grail 2.0.” All of these are products that I have loved for years and years—you’ll probably recognize a few from previous posts. And lucky for you, most of these can be found in the drugstore!

High End vs. Drugstore (Part Two)

A higher price tag doesn’t always mean higher quality. In this mini series, I’m comparing some of my favorite high end products with their drugstore equivalents. Today, we’re on to the fun stuff: eyes and lips!

(And in case you missed it, be sure to check out part 1, where I reviewed some of my most-loved face products.)
