Hi friends! Look who’s finally written their 2015 best of beauty post! It only took a bajillion years…
Asking me to pick my favorite makeup products is like asking me to pick a favorite child—it just can’t be done. I love all of them for different reasons. (Er…most of them, anyway.) That’s why, initially, I wasn’t going to write a 2015 favorites post. January is almost over, everyone else has done it, and I worried no one would want to read it. But then, one of my friends asked me to write it, and here I am. I’ve caved. Not all of these were 2015 discoveries, but I definitely used the heck out of all of them last year! I decided to save my skincare favorites for a future post—I’m long overdo for an updated skincare routine anyhow!
Without further ado, here’s my 2015 All Star Lineup!
As all beauty-junkies know, love can be a fickle thing. Favorites come and go, and products that were once, “the best thing ever!” sometimes lose their wow-factor when newer products come along. As someone who’s constantly testing new formulas, I have a pretty good sense of what I like and dislike, but every so often, that changes.
Here are a few of the items in my collection I’ve changed my mind about, for better or worse.
We probably all have pet peeves when it comes to our makeup. Lipstick feathering around the edges, bottom-lash mascara giving you panda eyes, foundation that’s the wrong color… For me, it’s definitely dry, flaky under eye concealer that settles into my fine lines. (Sidenote: I’m only 24. Why on earth do I have fine lines? Yeesh.) There’s nothing worse than popping into the bathroom mid-afternoon to check on my hair and makeup and seeing that my under eye concealer looks cracked and dull. Rather than brightening my face and making me look more awake, I look tired, and quite frankly– old!
No matter how many under eye concealers I’ve tried, this is always an issue for me. Some are better than others, but there’s no escaping it. Piling on more product halfway through the day only seems to make the problem worse. So what’s a girl to do? I think I’ve found the answer.
Last night, Dave and I went out to dinner and to see the new Cinderella movie as a sort of belated birthday celebration. My real birthday was last week, but I spent it at my grandfather’s funeral and I didn’t much feel like celebrating. Deciding it was time to stop moping around my apartment, I used the date as an excuse to get dolled up.
The two of us headed to Pacci’s, a local pizza restaurant that I love. They cook their pizzas in a wood-burning oven, and there’s something about the crust that’s extra delicious. I ordered a pizza topped with buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, basil and parmesan. We decided to skip dessert, but I was certainly tempted since the restaurant has a wall of Nutella at the entrance.
Look at me posting regularly for a change! I think February has been my most consistent blogging month since starting Tea and Sea! Let’s hope I can keep up the momentum! It’s been a while since I’ve written a traditional favorites post. (My last one was in October…whoops.) You’ll recognize some of the products below from recent posts, but there’s a couple of newbies in here as well. Let’s get started, shall we? Here are my favorites from the month of February.
The month of September was so busy! It was jam-packed from start to finish! I feel like my friends and I really took advantage of a lot of the things happening in and around DC– the Maryland Renaissance Fair, the H Street Festival, Cirque Du Soleil (so awesome!), and Crafty Bastards just to name a few things!
That being said, here are a few of the products I’ve been loving this month:
