Holy moly! Where did the month of May go? This month was crazy busy and jam-packed with so many fun things! My cousin Nicole came for a visit at the beginning of the month. She’s my biggest beauty enabler, and so you’d better believe that I got my Sephora fix while she was here. I also got to spend lots of time with Dave’s family. His youngest sister graduated from Georgetown a couple of weeks ago, and it was so great to celebrate everything she’s accomplished. The apartment is coming together nicely. I’ll probably have some photos ready for all of you to see in the next couple of weeks! (It depends on how long it takes me to motivate myself and hang photos…) Favorites-wise, I’ve got lots of fun things to share, so let’s dive right in…
Last week, I popped into the CVS across from my office to grab some essentials, and somehow, I found myself browsing the makeup aisle. (Funny how that happens?)
These two palettes from L’Oreal immediately caught my eye, and I thought I’d test them out for you guys. Upon first inspection, they seemed like they could be good drugstore alternatives to the Naked palettes. Urban Decay is owned by L’Oréal, so it would make sense that the company would try to release a similar product at a cheaper price point.
After playing around with these two for a bit, here’s my opinion.
Rarely do I read about a Nars product and think, “Oh my goodness! I must have that!” But, when I see the products in person, it’s a different story. There’s just something about Nars that calls to me from across the store… I don’t know whether it’s the sleek black packaging, the unusual colors, or the exotic names, but I’m always drawn to them.
I’d been anxiously awaiting my Sephora Birthday Gift this year. It was a Nars trio that included a mini Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella. I’ve heard great things about the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, and being the red lipstick lover that I am, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. Strangely, I wasn’t all that impressed by the quality of the pencil. The texture and formula reminded me a lot of the Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balms which are much, much cheaper, and in my opinion– just as good.
However, I quite enjoyed the Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien, which prompted me to explore some of the other Nars products. I ended up picking up a handful of items and thought I’d share. You can see swatches of all these items in the last photo of this post.
Last night, Dave and I went out to dinner and to see the new Cinderella movie as a sort of belated birthday celebration. My real birthday was last week, but I spent it at my grandfather’s funeral and I didn’t much feel like celebrating. Deciding it was time to stop moping around my apartment, I used the date as an excuse to get dolled up.
The two of us headed to Pacci’s, a local pizza restaurant that I love. They cook their pizzas in a wood-burning oven, and there’s something about the crust that’s extra delicious. I ordered a pizza topped with buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, basil and parmesan. We decided to skip dessert, but I was certainly tempted since the restaurant has a wall of Nutella at the entrance.
Look at me posting regularly for a change! I think February has been my most consistent blogging month since starting Tea and Sea! Let’s hope I can keep up the momentum! It’s been a while since I’ve written a traditional favorites post. (My last one was in October…whoops.) You’ll recognize some of the products below from recent posts, but there’s a couple of newbies in here as well. Let’s get started, shall we? Here are my favorites from the month of February.
I cannot believe how quickly the month of February has gone by! I feel like so much has happened these last few weeks… On Valentine’s Day, my fiancé and I signed a lease for a new apartment. After 5 1/2 years, the two of us will finally be moving in together in early April. I also flew to Chicago last weekend to visit family. It was nice seeing everyone, and made me realize how much I miss home sometimes.
With February winding down, my birthday is quickly approaching! Now, I never need an reason to splurge, but I always feel like turning another year older gives me an excuse to pick up some of the items I’ve been lusting after. (Note: I brought a couple of these items with me on my trip, so some of them may look a tad familiar.)
In the name of the big 2-4, here are the items I splurged on…
