Hi friends! Look who’s finally written their 2015 best of beauty post! It only took a bajillion years…
Asking me to pick my favorite makeup products is like asking me to pick a favorite child—it just can’t be done. I love all of them for different reasons. (Er…most of them, anyway.) That’s why, initially, I wasn’t going to write a 2015 favorites post. January is almost over, everyone else has done it, and I worried no one would want to read it. But then, one of my friends asked me to write it, and here I am. I’ve caved. Not all of these were 2015 discoveries, but I definitely used the heck out of all of them last year! I decided to save my skincare favorites for a future post—I’m long overdo for an updated skincare routine anyhow!
Without further ado, here’s my 2015 All Star Lineup!
It’s been a while since I’ve written a “Favorites” post, but it feels good to be back in business. These picks were a tough, as I’ve been wearing very little makeup the past few months. My beauty routine has been pretty minimal (I blame it on the God-awful DC humidity, but it’s mostly just laziness) but there are the handful of products I wanted to talk about.
Currently Drinking: Republic of Tea’s Limited Edition Downton Abbey English Rose Tea (I don’t watch the show, but the tea sure tastes great!)
I don’t care what the calendar says. Summer is officially here! The weather in DC has been so hot that I feel like I can’t go outside without overheating. It’s times like this when I find myself wishing I was at the beach. (Actually… that’s a lie. I always find myself wishing I was at the beach.) It’s been a while since we’ve checked in, and I thought I should let all of you know what I’ve been up to! It’s been a busy few months behind the scenes of Tea and Sea, but I think I’m starting to find a rhythm.
I know, I know… Technically spring started about a month ago. But here in DC, the weather is only starting to be warm enough for skirts and sandals, so forgive me for letting my brain continue to hibernate. I love spring– it might even be my favorite season. And now that the sun is finally starting to shine, I’m switching up my lip looks: wine for watermelon and aubergine for orchid.
In my opinion, changing your lip color is the easiest way to change the overall feel of your makeup. For me, swiping on a new color is like swiping on another personality. I’ve sorted through my stash to find the lip products I expect to be reaching for most this season.
Last week, I popped into the CVS across from my office to grab some essentials, and somehow, I found myself browsing the makeup aisle. (Funny how that happens?)
These two palettes from L’Oreal immediately caught my eye, and I thought I’d test them out for you guys. Upon first inspection, they seemed like they could be good drugstore alternatives to the Naked palettes. Urban Decay is owned by L’Oréal, so it would make sense that the company would try to release a similar product at a cheaper price point.
After playing around with these two for a bit, here’s my opinion.
Hey everyone! This week I had to take an impromptu flight, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to share some of my travel necessities with you. I apologize in advance for the quality of the photos. I had to take them on my iPhone because I didn’t get to pack a camera.
Here’s a quick peek at some of my beauty and non-beauty essentials.
