I’m Jackie. Welcome to Tea & Sea. Thanks for stumbling into my little corner of the internet.
I started Tea & Sea in 2014 shortly after graduating college. Back then, it was primarily a beauty blog, and it served as my creative outlet for a few years. Over time, life got in the way (as it often does) and I started posting less and less.
Recently, I’ve started a new chapter in my life. After graduating from my masters program and moving back to the Washington, DC-area with my husband, I began looking for ways to maintain creativity to my new “adult” life. I found that I missed writing, and so here I am: starting from a clean slate.
This year, I decided against a traditional “New Year’s Resolution.” A few months ago, I was inspired by Gretchen Rubin’s model in her book The Happiness Project. Rather than starting the year trying to fix everything all at once (and inevitably getting frustrated or failing entirely), I decided to choose one area of focus each month. 30 days to build new habits each month, and a whole year of learning what works, and constantly tweaking and revising. I felt like, if I was going to be successful, I needed a place where I’d be held accountable. Naturally, I thought of my old blog, Tea & Sea.
If you’re somehow still subscribed despite a very long hiatus— thanks for sticking around. I still plan to post the beauty reviews that were once the foundation of this blog. (Partly because I enjoy them, and partly because I need some reason to justify my unhealthy Sephora habits.) But I also hope to explore my year of cultivating habits for a life that’s fulfilling and whole.
I’ll go into greater detail about my January focus and my plans for the year in future posts, but expect Tea & Sea to feature content which focuses on the interests which have become the important facets of my life: cooking, mental health, career, marriage and exploring my city. Hopefully, that all sounds good to you and I’ll see you around often!
